6. Train people thoroughly as to what their job is and how to perform it properly.
7. Select machine centers properly for your objective and requirements, including the necessary feed system and operator controls.
8. Run all equipment as slowly as possible to meet the needs.
9. Spend time in your operation with your supervisors and all your people thinking and analyzing with them on how to do better on an ongoing basis.

11. Travel and observe other operations to broaden your perspective, get ideas, and discuss common problems and issues.
12. Seek outside information and input to help you. Don't try to always "figure it out yourself." Be open minded in considering new ideas, concepts, methods, or machines.
13. Develop and utilize actual production and recovery information. You can't measure improvements unless you know where you start.
